Kenny Kemper's '39 Sedan Delivery

Everyone loves a car with “history”. The outstanding '39 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery belonging to Kenny Kemper is one of those legacy rides with a long past.

The Delivery has been in the family since the swinging sixties. In fact, Kenny's Grandfather bought the '39 in Hayden, KY. 1939 is significant, as it's the year his Grandfather was born. The steel bodied - completely stock - sedan delivery was intact except for no seats or interior. Ironic since Kenny comes from a family with a long history of furniture store owners. In fact, the '39 sat in the family's furniture store warehouse for the first 15 years of it's life and was then moved to a nearby barn for another 30. So, the Delivery sat unmolested for it's first 45 years of ownership!

Fast forward to 2012, Kenny decided it's time restore (and rod) the long neglected Chevy. She was turned over to the very capable hands of Larry Griffey in Knoxville, TN for a complete ground-up rebuild. Two and a half years later the beautifully detailed rod you see here was finished just in time to debut in the 2015 NSRA Nationals Builders Showcase. Here are just a few highlights of the build:

the interior was done by Steve Holcomb, Tim and the crew at Pro Auto Interiors - also in Knoxville. Vintage Air handles the cooling
power comes from a strong ZZ4 350 crate motor backed by a 700R4
the original frame was retained, beefed up with a Heidt's front end and a legendary Ford 9 inch rear end
The ZZ4 breathes through a custom polished stainless steel exhaust using Magnaflow mufflers
Billet Specialties and Goodyear tires make up the rolling stock
a back-up camera was installed to simplify parking chores
the whole package was wrapped in a custom-mixed color; Candy Blue Pearl

Kenny, Larry and Steve's efforts garnered Kerry a Top 25 pick in the recent Sades of the Past show in Pigeon Forge! Congratulations on a great build.
